Roma have tested the waters for Artem Dovbyk, who’s very close to Atletico Madrid, and have prepared a new bid for Alexander Sorloth after missing out on Youssef En-Nesyri, who has officially joined Fenerbahce.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Giallorossi poked around the Ukrainian star as the talks between the Colchoneros and his camp stalled at the 11th hour. They reached out to his agent, as there’s still room to hijack the deal. They’ll have to improve their first proposal, though. The marksman has a €40M release clause, but the two sides were ironing out a different fee, €32M plus €6/7M bonuses, Relevo reports.
Roma will rekindle their Sorloth chase if it’s too late to sign Dovbyk. It’s a similar situation, as the Norwegian star has a €38M exit clause, while the capital club wants to do the deal for smaller sums, Corriere dello Sport relays (via Tuttomercatoweb). The player is keen on transferring to Serie A.
The Giallorossi are willing to propose as much as €30M for the prolific forward. Per Calciomercato, they have Lille’s Jonathan David and Ajax’s Brian Brobbey in their crosshairs should they fall to bring in one of their two main targets.
Our Take on Roma, Dovbyk, and Sorloth
They’ll land on their feet considering the quality of the options they have earmarked. Considering the supposed budget for the role and their other signings, they must be confident they’ll find a solution for Tammy Abraham. If their previous additions provide a hint, they’ll probably sign the candidate with the highest upside.
