Roma Join Juventus in Race for PSG Surplus Midfielder

Despite the difficulties in offloading players, Juventus remain hot on the trail of Leandro Paredes, but Roma have come into the picture following the injury to Georginio Wijnaldum. Neither team has a lot to spend. They are hopeful PSG will eventually agree to an initial loan with option to buy, Sky reports.

The Argentine has long been touted to transfer to Turin. More so after the arrival of his compatriot and former teammate Angel Di Maria. However, the Old Lady always intended to let go of one of their current outcasts first. Their attempts to part ways with Adrien Rabiot and Arthur have gone bust.

Denis Zakaria might be the odd man out now. Borussia Dortmund have emerged as another possible destination, Bild reports. Coach Massimiliano Allegri didn’t use him against Sampdoria, fielding a pair of youngsters over him. The two matters could be intertwined as Roma have the Juventus midfielder as an alternative to Paredes, Corriere dello Sport informs.

The Giallorossi had eyed the Swiss international when he was at Borussia Moenchengladbach. Cagliari’s Nahitan Nandez could be a last-minute solution too. Instead, they have turned down the proposal of reuniting with Kevin Strootman. He’s back at Olympique Marseille after a rough loan spell at Cagliari. The capital side has a few other names on their radar.

Our Take on Juventus and Roma Pursuing Paredes

The Bianconeri need him more in terms of skillset, while the fit in Giallorossi’s scheme would be more dubious. Still, he has experience in several formations and is already familiar with the club. It remains to be seen whether somebody will manage to sway PSG, though, as money is scarce.
