Roma Midfield Ace Prefers Serie A Switch Over Marseille

The Milan hunt for a central midfielder has taken them to Rome, as French midfielder Jordan Veretout is up for grabs from Roma’s squad. Having been continually associated with a move to the Rossoneri since his Fiorentina days, the 29-year-old has once again popped on the Diavolo radar.

As per the latest reports relayed by Foot Mercato, Marseille are also in the hunt for his signature, but the Rossoneri are clear favorites – mainly due to him preferring to stay in Serie A and quite possibly have a starring role in the center of the Scudetto winners’ midfield.

On the other hand, Marseille is looking to directly replace new Aston Villa signing Boubacar Kamara. L’Equipe places Veretout high on the French giants’ shortlist as they look to take advantage of their good relations with the Italian club.

Roma are currently looking to offload players after enjoying a rather successful transfer window so far, having bulked up their ranks with the presence of Nemanja Matic and now Paulo Dybala.

Veretout is currently not in Mourinho’s plans for the 2022/23 season, and prefers a move to Milan rather than back to his homeland. However, it is understood that an official bid will arrive from the Rossoneri’s end only after they are sure that their move for Renato Sanches won’t work.
