Roma are in talks with PSG to terminate the loan spell of Renato Sanches early. His stay has been hampered by thigh injuries.

Roma Misfit Displays Frustration on Social Media

Unsettled Roma star Renato Sanches seems determined to sever ties with Giallorossi when the transfer window reopens for business in January. After being left out of Jose Mourinho’s squad for Saturday’s 2-0 win against Napoli, the 26-year-old has gone to great lengths to display his discontent.

A quick look at Sanches’ Instagram profile in the wake of his omission showcases telling changes. Not only did he remove his profile picture displaying him wearing the Roma shirt, but he also cut other links with the club. According to his Instagram bio, he’s not a Giallorossi player but a ‘giocatore,’ or a player on Italian.

Sanches’ frustration isn’t unfounded. He joined Roma on loan from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, hoping to get his faltering career back on track. Instead, his downfall has hit a new low. Although injuries hindered his bid to establish himself at the Stadio Olimpico, he has barely featured for Mourinho’s side when fit.

The latest example of Mourinho’s stance on Sanches was the Portuguese’s decision to exclude him from his squad for the last edition of the famous Derby del Sole. But writings were on the wall for quite some time. Roma lost 2-0 to Bologna on their most recent Serie A travel as the Special One made another strange choice.

Only 18 minutes after subbing Sanches on, Mourinho took the troubled midfielder off. You don’t see that scenario often, suggesting the ex-Bayern Munich midfielder’s career at Roma is nearing an abrupt halt.
