Roma Monitoring Atalanta Midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi

After signing Paulo Dybala on the free last summer, Ruslan Malinovskyi could be the next big name to head to Roma.

The Ukrainian attacking midfielder is in the  sights of the Giallorossi, who may strike next summer. Malinovskyi’s contract with Atalanta finishes at season’s end.

The Bergamaschi managed to hold on to Malinovskyi this past summer. Despite the interest of several clubs in the former Genk star’s signature, he has stayed at the club.

Talks of a contract renewal are unlikely given the player’s strenuous relationship with coach Gian Piero Gasperini. The lack of regular starts may also persuade the Ukrainian to depart the club.

Malinovskyi also wants a contract that doubles the one million euros he currently earns per season. The 29-year-old is more than interested in working with Roma coach Jose Mourinho, while his wife would also like to stay in Italy.

Malinovskyi has started only four of Atalanta’s seven games thus far, finding the net once. He has not played a full 90 minutes for the club this season.
