Roma Offered Chance to Sign Former Real Madrid Star

With Nicolò Zaniolo headed to Galatasaray, Isco has been offered to Roma by intermediaries to fill the void. The Spaniard was released by Sevilla a couple of months ago. Salernitana pursued him in the recent past, but the talks quickly fell through. He was on the brink of joining Union Berlin on the deadline day, but the signing collapsed after the medicals. His economic requests were the main problem, SportMediaset relays.

The 30-year-old has featured in 12 matches, collecting just 2 assists, in four months in Andalusia. His transfer to Bundesliga didn’t go through over divergences about his net and gross wages. He earned a €1M base salary at this previous club, but he could get to €5M with easily achievable bonuses.

Roma will be down one attacker with Zaniolo leaving, and signing Isco would replenish their depth. On the other hand, he’d have to agree to lower sums to join. In addition, he wouldn’t be able to play in Europa League, as the list has already been submitted.

According to AS, the veteran turned down a €3M offer from Besiktas and is eyeing a move to the United States.

Our Take on Roma and Isco

The Giallorossi could use an inventive midfielder, and he’s already familiar with José Mourinho. However, it’s dubious how much he has left in his tank, and he has been without a team for a while. His demands might ultimately not be worth the risk of signing somebody who might not be able to contribute for months.
