Roma Offered Former Dortmund Defender, Same as Inter

Roma intend to add a left-footed defender to their rearguard and have shown major interest in Dan-Axel Zagadou, who is currently a free agent. He has been offered to the Giallorossi by the agent. His camp had done the same with Inter in previous weeks.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the management of the capital side is taking the candidature into serious consideration. On the other hand, they have reservations about his injury history. The 23-year-old has featured in just 91 matches in five years with Borussia Dortmund, while he has missed 83 with various problems.

Still, Roma could indeed onboard Zagadou since they would not have to pay a fee. His requests are not conspicuous. He has starred in just 35 games in the past two seasons, with an average of fewer than 50 minutes per contest. Physical issues have derailed him as he was highly touted coming off the PSG youth academy.

The Giallorossi have been linked to a host of options for the position. RB Bragantino’s Natan is among the top ones due to his ceiling. However, the Brazilian club turned down a €10M offer for him, Gianluca Di Marzio relays.

Our Take on Roma Eyeing Zagadou

His continuous absences are indeed concerning, but you could do a lot worse when it comes to a fifth center-back. The deal has little risk and plenty of upside given the circumstances. The cash-strapped Inter should also take a long look at him. He might turn out to be a diamond in the rough.
