Romelu Lukaku has put pen to paper on his Roma move, returning to Serie A for a third stint after two at Inter. His contract has been deposited at the League’s office. He was chased after by Juventus throughout the summer. Though, the domino to bring him to Turin didn’t materialize.
The Giallorossi capitalized on Chelsea accepting a loan after pursuing a permanent sale for the whole summer. They’ll pay €6M plus a €7.5M salary this season, Il Giornale relays. He recorded 15 goals and 7 goals in 37 matches with Inter last season despite a major thigh injury.
Lukaku reunites with José Mourinho at Roma. They were briefly together at Chelsea in 2013 and then at Manchester United for 18 months between 2017 and 2018. The striker hit the net 27 times in 48 appearances in their lone full season together. He bagged 33 goals in 76 fixtures under the tutelage of Special One, plus 11 assists.
The center-forward seemed poised to return to Inter in July. However, the Nerazzurri abandoned their pursuit once they realized he was negotiating with Juventus too.

Our Take on Roma and Lukaku
As was the case for Paulo Dybala, it’s a very fitting marriage between a player looking for a starring role and affection and a team starving for proven champions. Their patience paid off grandly, although he’ll need time to get into shape.
