Roma on the Verge of Snapping Up Cagliari Stalwart

Roma are closing in on Nahitan Nandez, who’ll depart Cagliari on a free after five years. The Giallorossi offered him a three-year contract and an agreement is about to be struck. The midfielder has been routinely proposed to Inter, which never took the bait.

According to Mediaset, the midfielder will put pen to paper once the capital team formally hires their new director Florent Ghisolfi. He wants to join a new side before leaving for the Copa America.

Nandez and Roma coach Daniele De Rossi spent some time together at Boca Juniors during the latter’s brief stint in Argentina. Per Calciomercato, he has been making €1.6M per year in Sardinia and will receive a slight pay bump.

The Giallorossi have several moving pieces in the midfield. Renato Sanches will head back to PSG after a poor loan spell. Houssem Aouar failed to impress and could be flipped to record a ‘plusvalenza.’ Edoardo Bove isn’t a lock to stay since he hasn’t played much.

The prospective newcomer has also featured as a no.10, a winger, and a right-back this campaign. He has scored twice in 32 appearances. His agent Pablo Bentancur confirmed to LaRoma24.

“We have come to terms, and he’ll ink a three-year deal.”

Our Take on Roma and Nandez

It’s a solid get for a team that needs multiple pieces and doesn’t have much to spend. He’s not a high-end contributor, but his versatility will come in handy. His gritty style meshes well with the gaffer and their other contributors.
