Roma Owners to Open Up Wallet for the Transfer Market

The Friedkin family is ready to pour more money into Roma in 2023, and the amount of their latest capital increase will depend on how much the club will spend in the next transfer market window. The American tycoons acquired the club for €200M and invested €350M more afterward, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

The Giallorossi plan to further raise the bar and satisfy José Mourinho’s requests. They could completely overhaul the midfield in the summer. Jordan Veretout is on his way out. Bryan Cristante has received some offers amid a contractual dispute. The recent underwhelming performances of Sergio Oliveira have fueled doubts on activating his €13M option to buy, Corriere dello Sport informs.

Nemanja Matic has been offered to them. However, there are concerns about his age and wages. Still, he could be a viable option in case of multiple additions. Roma also have Lille’s Xeka among their transfer market targets. His deal with Lille runs out in June. He would be way cheaper than the Manchester United veteran. The Portuguese connection within the club could be further reinforced with Valencia’s Gonçalo Guedes. He has the same agency, Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute, as José Mourinho and a few of their recent newcomers.

The Giallorossi remain in need of a deep-lying playmaker. He will likely be an outcast from a top European side. The arrival of Granit Xhaka is unlikely since he reclaimed a starring role at Arsenal. Marcos Senesi would be their top objective if they made some moves in the back.
