Roma Player Ratings vs Inter: Giallorossi In Free Fall

Inter continued in their strong run of form on Saturday as they recorded a 2-0 victory away to Roma at the Stadio Olimpico to strengthen their top-four bid. Goals from Federico Dimarco and Romelu Lukaku would wrap up a significant win for the Nerazzurri but it does not look good for Jose Mourinho’s Roma who have dropped outside of the top six and are now without a win in four.

After a reasonably quiet opening quarter of the match, it was Dimarco who put the visitors in front a few minutes after the half hour mark. Marcelo Brozovic was key in the build-up finding Denzel Dumfries with an intricate through ball, before the Dutch wing-back found Dimarco at the back post.

It took until the second half before the second goal of the match would be found but it was Inter who did so, with Lukaku making the most out of a poor mistake by Roger Ibanez to put his side two ahead. So, here’s our Roma player ratings for their 2-0 defeat at home to Inter.

Roma: (3-5-1-1)

Rui Patricio – 6

Did his job well when called upon and couldn’t do much about either goal.

Gianluca Mancini – 6

Booked midway through the first half for a late tackle on Hakan Calhanoglu. Relatively solid in possession and looked decent going forward at points but wasn’t effective enough at the back.

Bryan Cristante – 5

Continued in his adapted role at the centre of defense due to Roma’s injury issues. The Giallorossi are clearly missing the stability at the back that Chris Smalling brings.

Roger Ibanez – 4

Threatened a couple of times from set-pieces but never looked comfortable here and made a poor error that allowed Lukaku in on goal for Inter’s second.

Nicola Zalewski – 5.5

Looked decent at points going forward but failed to keep track of the arriving Dimarco in the lead up to Inter’s opener.

Mady Camara – 4.5

Looked decent in opening phases but the game felt like it bypassed him as it progressed. Had a great opportunity to pull a goal back late on but completely skyed his effort.

Nemanja Matic – 6.5

Anchored the defence in the central midfield position. Was solid and played a few progressive passes, breaking the lines.

Edoardo Bove – 5.5

Fairly solid display overall but equally didn’t impact the outcome too much. Replaced by Paulo Dybala with Roma needing to get back into the game.

Leonardo Spinazzola – 4.5

Picked the ball up in a couple of nice positions down the left early on but unable to get the better of Dumfries overall in the opening period. Got caught in behind by Dumfries too in the build-up to Inter’s goal.

Lorenzo Pellegrini – 6

Received the ball in a couple of threatening positions early on but failed to capitalize on them, failing to hit the target with any of his attempts. Always looked like the biggest threat for the hosts but didn’t show enough in the final third.

Andrea Belotti – 4.5

Never really made an impact going forward but cannot fault his work rate and did okay in the air. Benched for Tammy Abraham in the second half.
