Roma Plotting to Add Some More Speed to Their Attack

Roma have had a lackluster start offensively and are considering trying to fortify their frontline in January by bringing in a pacey attacker to have more variety up front. Artem Dovbyk has been their only productive forward so far.

Per Calciomercato, the Giallorossi are ready to rekindle their interest in two summer targets, Nice’s Jeremie Boga and Sassuolo’s Armand Laurienté. Their director Florent Ghisolfi brought the Ivorian winger to the Cote d’Azur from Atalanta a couple of years ago. He has scored and assisted once in five appearances.

Roma are in touch with his agent Fali Ramadani. There could be grounds to do the deal in the winter. Instead, it’ll be more challenging to convince Sassuolo. They rejected several offers for their star. They count on him to return to Serie A as quickly as possible.

Laurienté didn’t play in the early going because he could have transferred but has scored twice and set up a teammate in four recent fixtures.

Our Take on the Roma Plans

Some more agility up front wouldn’t hurt, but, in Ivan Juric’s design, they have enough options already. It’d be tough to routinely bench somebody like Lorenzo Pellegrini, for instance. Things would obviously be different with a coaching change and possibly a diverse scheme. They are more lacking in terms of wingbacks. Addressing that should be the first order of business once the transfer market re-opens.
