Sassuolo chief Giovanni Carnevali has taken stock of the failed approach by Roma for midfield prodigy Davide Frattesi, mainly due to ecnomic disagreements.

Roma Ponder Swap Deal in Negotiations with Sassuolo for Frattesi

Roma are working hard to re-sign youth academy graduate Davide Frattesi from Sassuolo after he impressed heavily during the recently concluded 2021/22 season, registering 4 goals in 38 appearances. However, signing the 22-year-old is not going to be straightforward, given the spotlight on him as one of Serie A’s up and coming stars.

Keeping that in mind, the Giallorossi are aiming to include one of their own youngsters as a counterpart in the deal. Either one of Felix Afena-Gyan, Edoardo Bove or Cristian Volpato is touted to be included in the proceedings.

Of the three, it is the latter two – Bove and Volpato – who are not short of clubs keeping tabs on them after making their respective first-team debuts last season under Jose Mourinho.

Highly-rated trequartista Volpato is of prime interest several Serie A and Serie B clubs, including Sassuolo, Bari, Ascoli, and Ternana, as per latest Corriere dello Sport (via SassuoloNews.net) reports. Bove on the other hand, also has the sights of Sassuolo on him, though not as strongly, along with newly promoted teams Cremonese and Monza. However, the Giallorossi want to keep him and see him develop with the team.

In other news, Roma were in talks to complete a deal involving Afena-Gyan to Serie B champions Lecce, but negotiations are understood to have encountered a standstill after reports of his potential involvement in the swap deal with Sassuolo.
