Roma Preparing for a Busy January to Address Holes

Roma completed a host of moves last summer but are still lacking in some positions, especially after hiring Ivan Juric and switching tactics. Florent Ghisolfi plots to fix things in January. They haven’t been great on the wings, and the early target to shore them up is Ola Aina, who has already worked with the Croat manager, Leggo informs (via Corriere Giallorosso).

He’s currently at Nottingham Forest. His contract expires in June, so he might transfer for a cheap fee despite being a regular. He played 112 times at Torino before going to England. A swap with Nicola Zalewski could be an option if the youngster doesn’t re-up before the next transfer market window. He has totaled 27 caps with the Tricky Trees.

Roma signed Alexis Saelemaekers, Saud Abdulhamid, and Samuel Dahl in those roles last summer. The Belgian suffered a serious ankle injury after a solid start. The other two newcomers haven’t convinced their two gaffers. The Saudi international was poor in his lone start versus Elfsborg.

The Giallorossi will likely soon extend the contract of Eldor Shomurodov but are in the market for another striker to deputize Artem Dovbyk. The solution could come from the team recently acquired by the Friedkin family, Everton, as Beto is on his way out. The capital club will also seek a solution for Leandro Paredes, who earns too much to be a backup.

A new wingback is necessary, but it’ll depend on how and when Saelemaekers will return, and there’s still a chance their summer additions pan out over time. In any case, they should aim for a potentially prolific weapon to make their scheme work well.
