Roma Preparing New Bid For Davide Frattesi

After missing out on Davide Frattesi’s signature in the summer, Roma are readying a new offer for the sought-after Sassuolo star. As per Gazzetta dello Sport, the Giallorossi are hellbent on landing the midfielder amid speculation linking him with several Premier League clubs.

Roma spent most of the summer trying to convince Sassuolo to sell them their youth academy graduate but to no avail. Frattesi, whose contract at the Mapei Stadium runs until 2026, was enthusiastic about returning to Rome. However, the Neroverdi were reluctant to give up his services at the time.

Despite being knocked back a few times already, Roma won’t give up on their pursuit of the 23-year-old. Jose Mourinho is a big-time admirer of Frattesi and wants to pair him up with Lorenzo Pellegrini in the middle of the park. As such, the Giallorossi will launch a new assault on the Italian when the transfer window reopens for business in January.

Frattesi has gone from strength to strength this season, even though Sassuolo have struggled to deal with the summer departures of Gianluca Scamacca and Giacomo Raspadori. The highly-rated midfielder has tallied four goals in 15 Serie A appearances en route to cementing his place in Italy’s national team.

Unfortunately for Roma, his sublime form for Sassuolo has not gone unnoticed. After Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur have now emerged as potential suitors for the £30m-rated star. Antonio Conte reportedly holds Frattesi in high esteem and wants to take him to north London.

However, Roma remain in the driving seat, though Mourinho’s side cannot drag the pursuit on any longer if they’re to beat stiff competition from the Premier League.
