Roma will change their no.1 goalie and earmarked Alex Meret as a potential successor for Rui Patricio. The veteran is on an expiring deal and has been far from impressive this season, especially in recent games. Mile Svilar, who started in the previous Europa League matches, might be in the XI against Feyenoord and take over in Serie A too, Corriere dello Sport informs.
The Giallorossi reached out to the entourage of Napoli goalie to gather intel about his contract. It technically runs out in June, but it will get automatically renewed if he features in 70 percent of their games. Considering he missed time with injury, he’s currently at 68 percent.
Roma would obviously be highly interested if Meret became a free agent. He should be ready to play in the next round, but Pierluigi Gollini has fared well in relief. The goalie was scheduled to return from a thigh strain in the past game but was a late scratch due to a stomach bug.
The 26-year-old makes €1.8M per season. It wouldn’t be hard for the suitors to make richer offers.

Napoli aren’t foolish and, even if Gollini has been solid, he’ll be back on goal to avoid this turn of events. He still wouldn’t be a lock to stay, though.
