Roma to Reignite Interest in Arsenal Star Granit Xhaka

Roma are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka in January.

The Swiss international was strongly linked to a move to the club last summer and after a strong Euro campaign, a transfer seemed even more likely. However, Xhaka stayed at Arsenal and signed a new contract with the club in August.

Now. it seems that Roma have revived their interest in the midfielder and want to sign him in January, according to Corriere Dello Sport. Jose Mourinho’s side were keen on signing Xhaka’s national team colleague Denis Zakaria but the Borussia Monchengladbach man seems close to joining Juventus. Another name that has come up is Atalanta’s Remo Freuler.

Xhaka, who is currently valued at €22m according to Transfermarkt, has made only five appearances for Arsenal this season as a ligament injury in the North London Derby has kept him on the sidelines.

Roma need some squad depth if they are to clinch a Top 4 spot this season, and Xhaka is a suitable option for them.
