Roma Risk Losing French Midfield Ace to Italian Rivals

Roma risk losing one of their midfield strongholds in Jordan Veretout, as the end of the season approaches in a few months. The French midfielder is reportedly undergoing a rough patch with Jose Mourinho, who is said to have lowered his trust in the 28-year-old as the campaign has progressed.

The former Aston Villa and Fiorentina central midfielder has a contract valid until June 2024, but the introduction of youngsters in the squad along with his dip in recent form has given sporting director Tiago Pinto something to think about. He currently has a transfermarkt value of €30m, making him an affordable target for many clubs.

One such club reportedly interested in the Frenchman is Milan. The Rossoneri have kept close tabs on him since his move to Roma and are one of the suitors for his signature.

Veretout was a constant presence in midfield up until midway through the season for Roma, after which Mourinho has utilized him intermittently. The arrival of new signing Sergio Oliveira has not helped Veretout’s position either.

He has 4 goals and 9 assists in 33 appearances for the Giallorossi this season.
