Roma Seeking New Left-Back, Real Madrid and Chelsea Players Linked

Leonardo Spinazzola will miss the first chunk of the season due to an Achilles tear, leaving Roma without their starting left-back. The Giallorossi have begun looking for a replacement and are eyeing multiple candidates.

José Mourinho took matters into his own hands and reached out to Marcelo, La Repubblica reports. However, the Brazilian defender has a giant salary, and Florentino Perez stated that he would stay and be the captain. The coach had unsuccessfully tried the same move with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Sergio Ramos.

Roma joined the race for the Chelsea duo, Emerson and Marcos Alonso, but face difficulties for both. The Blues want €20M for the Italian international, while the Spaniard earns €6M per year, Il Messaggero informs. The former is more feasible than the latter, but La Lupa, like the other Italian clubs, needs his price tag to decrease.

Federico Dimarco is back at Inter after a productive spell at Verona. The Nerazzurri would like to keep him but could budge for a €10M offer. In this case, the two clubs could arrange a swap, Sky Sport reports.

Roma will change their plans for Riccardo Calafiori, who was highly likely to go out on loan. Moreover, they also have Davide Santon, whom Mourinho is already familiar with, for the role. Bologna’s Mitchell Dijks and Cristiano Biraghi represent cheaper alternatives. The Fiorentina defender is the more feasible of the bunch. A season-long loan with a €6M option to buy could be enough to get him, Corriere dello Sport indicates.
