Roma Set Sights on Promising Portuguese Full-Back Dalot

Jose Mourinho is set to continue expanding the Roma project as he sets his sight on a reunion with the promising Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot.

During his regime as manager of Manchester United, it was the “Special One” himself who bought the 22 year-old from Porto for a hefty fee of €21M. Since his huge move to the Red Devils from the Portuguese giants, Dalot had a rough time adapting to his new surroundings within the Premier League.

As a result, United loaned out the Portuguese full-back to Milan during the 2020-21 Serie A campaign. The young starlet had an impressive loan-spell with the Rossonerri as he made 21 appearances across all competitions for the Italian giant, demonstrating his quality and potential within his displays in a very consistent manner.

So far throughout this season’s campaign, the rising defender has played a pivotal role as he made 20 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions. Dalot seemed to have rejuvenated himself since his period on loan with the Serie A giants last season as he has established himself a starting role for United through his high-quality defending, his incredible pace, and his magnificent dribbling skills.

As it stands, according to Transfermarkt, Dalot’s current contract with United is set to expire in the summer of 2023. As a result, Mourinho is eager to reunite with the Portuguese full-back at the Stadio Olimpico as the Giallorossi are plotting an attempt to acquire the up-and-coming defender for a fee around the region of 11M.
