Roma Skipper Lorenzo Pellegrini Ruled Out Until 2023

The Giallorossi suffered a major blow within their squad throughout their 1-0 defeat to cross-city rivals Lazio as Roma skipper Lorenzo Pellegrini is ruled out until 2023 due to injury.

After playing only seven minutes of the second half, the Italian international was forced to come off the pitch to what it seemed to be a muscular strain of some sort.

According to reports from Milan-based journal La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 27 year-old underwent medical examinations earlier this morning and it appears that Pellegrini sustained a muscular flexor injury.

Consequently, the attacking midfielder is forced to watch his teammates from the sidelines until the New Year, making himself unavailable for the capital club’s fixtures against Sassuolo and Empoli prior to the World Cup.

So far this season, Pellegrini has played a tremendous role within the central park, tallying one goal and four assists in 13 appearances within the Serie A.

With Roma descending out of the top four after crumbling at the Stadio Olimpico against I Biancocelesti, it remains to be seen how Mourinho well set up his squad as he is short of attacking-minded options going into the remaining two league fixtures until the New Year.
