Roma Slated to Part Ways with Three More Fringe Players

Roma officially bid adieu to Eldor Shomudorov, at least for now, Thursday, and Gonzalo Villar, Matias Vina, and Bryan Reynolds will be next. The Uzbek has joined Cagliari on a season-long loan with option to buy. The Sardinians will shell out a €1M fee for 2023/2024. They will have a clause to purchase him for €8M. The Giallorossi will contribute to his €2M wages, L’Unione Sarda relays (via OneFootball).

Instead, the Uruguayan fullback will be part of a carousel of left-backs, Calciomercato relays. He’ll join Sassuolo on a temporary spell. He played at Bournemouth last season. He wished to return, but they signed former Lazio target Milos Kerkez instead. He’ll replace Georgios Kyriakopoulos, who will move to Monza, which might lose Carlos Augusto.

On top of the Shomurodov and Vina deals, Roma are close to finalizing the departures of Villar and Reynolds. The Spaniard is in advanced talks to join Granada permanently for €2M plus add-ons. The fullback will go back to Belgium, more precisely at Westerlo, for a €3.5M fee plus add-ons and 25 percent of a future sale.

The Giallorossi are expected to use the money and the room they opened up in their wages bill to onboard Renato Sanches.

Our Take on Roma

It’s tough to spend a large part of the summer rectifying previous mistakes, but at least they are doing so a lot better and faster than other big teams.
