Roma Soon to Resume Talks for Brazilian Prodigy

Roma are reportedly weighing up a new approach for Santos forward Marcos Leonardo despite suffering several setbacks. As per Gianluca Di MarzioGiallorossi will accelerate talks for the prodigious striker on Monday.

Jose Mourinho’s relentless quest to land a new center-forward hasn’t come to fruition yet. Roma must address their goalscoring woes, particularly in light of Tammy Abraham’s expected lengthy spell on the sidelines. But despite keeping close tabs on numerous players, the Italians have nothing to show for it.

Gianluca Scamacca’s rejection has left Mourinho’s bid to strengthen his frontlines in tatters. Bologna’s Marko Arnautovic has emerged as a potential short-term solution. Although the Austrian veteran wouldn’t mind switching to the Stadio Olimpico, he won’t come cheap. Since Roma must be careful about their spending, that track could soon go cold.

However, Marcos Leonardo is a much more exciting profile. At just 20 years of age, the Brazilian could be a massive investment, and not just for the present. Roma have had to postpone talks with Santos as they negotiate Roger Ibanez’s move to Al-Ahli

On top of that, it was a chaotic Sunday for the Brazilians. They have sacked underperforming manager Paulo Turra. Therefore, they’ve put any potential departures on hold until further notice. Roma won’t give them much breathing space as they look to resume talks tomorrow.

Time has become a sensitive mission for Roma. Mourinho’s pursuit of a new striker has taken much longer than expected. That could change in the coming days.
