Roma Starlet Zaniolo Targeted By Newcastle United

Roma whizz-kid Nicolo Zaniolo has attracted plenty of interest in Italy and abroad, with Newcastle United now joining a sizeable list of suitors for the youngster. Per the Daily Express, the Magpies from St James’ Park have joined Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the race for the prodigious winger.

Zaniolo is out of contract at the Stadio Olimpico in the summer. Despite playing a significant role in Jose Mourinho’s set-up, he has yet to pledge his future to Roma. And while the Giallorossi remain hopeful of tying him down to a new contract, the 23-year-old seems to have other plans.

Hesitant on penning a new deal, the Roma starlet has invited suitors to come knocking on his doors. After Arsenal and Tottenham, Zaniolo has now emerged as a potential target for insanely rich Newcastle. A cash influx from Saudi Arabia last year quickly turned the Magpies into a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe’s men have gone from perennial relegation candidates to genuine top-four contenders. No matter the outcome of their final league match of 2022, Newcastle will enter the new calendar year in third. Appetites have naturally gone up on Tyneside, with Howe’s side now targeting prominent European talents.

One of them is Zaniolo, who has gone from strength to strength at Roma since arriving from Inter in 2018. Widely considered one of the hottest Italian properties, the versatile forward could be counting his final days in the capital. But his future may not necessarily lie in the Premier League.

Juventus harbor a long-term interest in Zaniolo, who’s said to be preferring to stay in his homeland. And while Roma are reluctant to match the player’s wage demands of around €4m net per season, the Turin heavyweights are reportedly willing to meet his request.
