Roma Steadily Advancing in Negotiation with Svilar

Roma have resumed tending to some contract talks after the summer window and the turmoil, and Mile Svilar is one of the top names on their agenda. The goalie has yet to be rewarded since joining and taking over from Rui Patricio.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the dialogue is well underway and could reach the finish line fairly soon. He’d be one of the few players the Giallorossi could record a ‘plusvalenza’ on, but they’d rather keep him long-term and want to repel surprises and temptations. They plan for him to be their no.1 once they enter their new stadium.

Svilar is currently tied with Roma until 2027 with a €900k salary. The brass plots to hand him a two-year extension and double his wages. Director Florent Ghisolfi addressed the topic in a recent interview.

“His deal will be revisited because he deserves it. His performances have been high level.”

The shot-stopper talked about it to LaRoma24 during the pre-season.

“I’m very happy and can’t even explain how much. It has always been my dream to play many matches and be the starter for a team like this one. There won’t be issues with the renewal. I’m grateful toward the team.”

Our Take on Roma and Svilar

They should have taken care of this yesterday, but it’s also true that the transfer market steamrolls every extension talks during the summer; plus, they have had an abnormal amount of instability due to the coaching change and their CEO leaving. Their recent window shows that they no longer need to cash in on talents to foot acquisitions.
