Roma Strengthen Portuguese Connection with First Winter Signing

Roma have successfully reached an agreement for the first acquisition of the winter transfer market. Porto midfielder Sergio Oliveira has come to terms with the Giallorossi, however the deal is not yet complete due to impending confirmation from the Portuguese club.

According to reports from transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport Italia, both Roma and Oliveira are waiting for Porto’s green light to go ahead with the move that will see the 29-year-old arrive in the capital on an initial €1m loan deal – plus the option to buy set at around €15m.

However, details regarding the purchase option is still up in the air. Regardless, the versatile midfielder has already reportedly bid farewell to his Porto teammates. The Porto youth product has appeared 24 times for the club this season, scoring 5 goals and providing one assist in the process.

Sporting director Tiago Pinto is said to be a fan of the Portuguese midfielder and Roma are eager to see Oliveira join up with the squad before the Giallorossi’s next Serie A game against Cagliari on the weekend.

Oliveira was heavily linked to Fiorentina during the recently concluded summer transfer window but the departure of coach Gennaro Gattuso marked the end of negotiations between the player and La Viola.
