Roma Strike Deal to Reunite with Leeds United Defender

Roma are on the brink of securing the return of Diego Llorente from Leeds United. He spent the second half of the past campaign in the Italian capital on loan, playing nine times. The two teams are exchanging documents to finalize the transfer, Gianluca Di Marzio informs.

The Giallorossi didn’t activate a previous €18M option to redeem him. They’ll enjoy a robust discount. The center-back will transfer temporarily again, but there’ll be a €5M obligation to buy if he appears in half of their matches next season.

Llorente reunited with José Mourinho at Roma, as the Special One coached him when he was a youngster at Real Madrid. The Giallorossi are in advanced talks with Leeds United also for fullback Rasmus Kristensen.

Per Calciomercato, the formula for the Dane will be a loan with option to buy. He posted three goals and one assist in 26 Premier League games in 2022/2023. He had been scouted by director Tiago Pinto during his time at Red Bull Salzburg already.

Our Take on Roma and Llorente

It’s a solid piece of business considering the fee, and he proved to be reliable. They should be set in the back with him and Evan N’Dicka. They should definitely sell Roger Ibanez to foot additions in different roles.
