Roma Striker Best in Europe in Peculiar Goal-Related Stat

Tammy Abraham led Roma to victory in the Derby. He hit the net a few seconds into the game thanks to a lucky bounce on a corner kick and then doubled the lead with a tap-in later on. He is now up to 23 goals in 40 appearances in the 2021-2022 season.

The center-forward once again broke the deadlock in the clash with Lazio. He has done it nine times so far, which is a record across Europe, Sky informs. Good things tend to happen to Roma when Abraham is the first to score. They have prevailed in seven out of nine matches, tying with Sassuolo and losing only to Juventus. They have won one-nil on four separate occasions.

The Englishman surpassed Vincenzo Montella and Gabriel Omar Batistuta for most goals in the first campaign with the Giallorossi. He needs two more to leapfrog Rodolfo Volk atop the leaderboard. In addition, he matched his most prolific season in domestic play to date with Sunday’s brace, La Gazzetta dello Sport indicates. Abraham is the first Roma player to find the target twice in a Derby since 2015. Francesco Totti was the last one to do it.

The 24-year-old has started to hit his stride in January. Only Robert Lewandowski has scored more in the top five European leagues in 2022. The Giallorossi have seen their €40M investment fully pay off after a relatively slow start. On the other hand, Chelsea have an €80M buy-back clause that will come into effect in 2023.
