Roma Take an Interest in Two Up-and-Coming Fullbacks

Roma have set sights on two young specialists, Djurgarden’s Samuel Dahl and Rennes’ Lorenz Assignon, to fix their defensive wings. The Giallorossi had a strong approach for the latter on Thursday but haven’t fully come to terms to acquire him yet, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The Italian team is pushing to get the deal done to pair him up with Angelino, replacing Leonardo Spinazzola. He has tallied 6 assists in 33 games with his current team. He joined from Orebro in July 2023. The talent debuted with Sweden last January and has five caps with the U-21 national team under his belt.

Roma are trying to concur to manageable fees for both Dahl and Assignon. They have stayed in touch with Rennes after completing the Enzo Le Fée deal. The defender starred for Burnley on loan in the past six months, scoring once and assisting twice in 15 games. The Clarets would like to sign him permanently, but they got relegated. He had put up similar numbers in Ligue 1 before his Winter switch.

The 24-year-old is a product of Les Dogues’ academy. He has racked up 64 games with them, 46 of which in Ligue 1. He has no international experience at any level.

Our Take on Roma, Dahl, and Assignon

The Giallorossi have their ducks in order regarding their priorities and seem willing to spend enough if they find somebody they really like. They can go young on the left since Angelino is solid, while they need a stud at right-back after years of subpar play.
