Roma prodigy Nicolo Zaniolo is currently sidelined due to a shoulder injury, but that hasn’t impeded talks regarding his contract renewal following a summer saga that almost saw him leave the Stadio Olimpico. As reported earlier, the Giallorossi are expected to begin the negotiation later this month.
The latest information from Calciomercato indicates that the Italy forward has opted to stay put in the Italian capital for the near future. The Giallorossi management is considering handing him an extension that would tie him down until the summer of 2027. His current deal ends in June 2024.
Pinto: "Zaniolo was never close to leaving. Last season was important for him and so far this season he has shown he is continuing to improve. He's young, he's happy. The focus for him now is getting back to full fitness."#ASRoma pic.twitter.com/cckavitheJ

Sporting director Tiago Pinto is in constant contact with the player’s agent Claudio Vigorelli, and the two are understood to be close to coming to terms. The report mentions that an agreement is expected to be found halfway between the €3.5M offered by the club and the €5M demanded by the player.
Zaniolo could earn somewhere in the region of €4.2M, including bonuses and add-ons, once he prolongs his contract. The forward was heavily pursued by Juventus during the summer transfer window, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur also closely linked to his services.
