Roma Tipped to Rival Lazio and Milan for Verona Standout

Roma are ready to battle with Lazio to capture Nicolò Casale. The center-back was close to joining the Biancocelesti in January. However, they ultimately could not convince Verona to give him up mid-season. The two sides will also face competition from Milan in the summer.

His agent hinted at the Giallorossi’s interest in an interview with Corriere dello Sport: “Empoli’s Fabiano Parisi is on their radar, but we are mostly talking with them about another of my clients. If things went in the right direction, I would be thrilled to send him to a club that is trying to build a great squad.”

Roma and Lazio will both seek a defender in the summer, and adding Casale would not break the bank. The Giallorossi will need more options if they keep using 3-5-2. They have just four pure center-backs on the roster. The Biancocelesti will lose Luiz Felipe, who will most likely join Betis Sevilla. Patric could depart on a Bosman move as well. Maurizio Sarri is said to be a big fan of the 24-year-old, who has turned heads in his first campaign in Serie A.

Casale addressed the interest from Roma and Lazio while talking to Tuttomercatoweb: “Being linked to top teams is always pleasing. However, my short-term goal is to finish the season well with Verona. I extended my contract until 2026, which was a great accomplishment for me. I am playing for my hometown team, which is fantastic. We will see what happens in the summer.”
