In light of his positive displays in Serie A, Sassuolo midfield ace Davide Frattesi is back in the radar of top dogs – Milan and Roma. The Rossoneri are keeping close tabs on the 23-year-old’s developments, but according to latest reports, it is his boyhood club Roma who will make a move sooner rather than later come the next transfer window. Juventus have also been linked in the past.

According to Calciomercato, the Giallorossi are keen to replace the injured Gini Wijnaldum with Frattesi. The Dutchman’s loan move to the Stadio Olimpico proved unfortunate as he suffered a tibia fracture almost immediately, and being ruled out for majority of the 2022/23 season and also the upcoming World Cup.
Roma will enter the January winter transfer window with the young Rome-born midfielder as one of their main priorities. However, they will face competition from the Premier League, with West Ham United and Manchester United also interested in his services.

The latter have sent scouts in the past to observe the player, and the former look to target the Neroverdi once again following the transfer of Gianluca Scamacca last summer.
But it is Roma who have odds in their favor as they hold a significant 30% of the future resale of Frattesi, which could play an important part in activating a potential discount in negotiations with Sassuolo. The ex-Monza, Empoli and Ascoli loanee is valued around the €40M mark.
