Roma will take Sunday’s trip to Giuseppe Meazza to encounter Serie A leaders Inter without marquee forward Paulo Dybala. According to Calciomercato, Jose Mourinho is reluctant to take risks with La Joya, who has experienced another injury-plagued start to the season.
Dybala was in contention for the matchday squad despite struggling with a long-term knee problem. The Roma superstar underwent several routine tests with the ball on Friday night and trained separately from the group on Sunday morning. However, Mourinho has decided against handing him a call-up.
Mourinho is aware of Dybala’s significance to the team. Therefore, he could travel to Meazza with the rest of the group but only as a moral support. Dybala last appeared for Roma in a 2-0 home win over promoted Frosinone on October 1. Giallorossi have thrived in his absence, winning all four competitive games in the build-up to this trip.
However, continuing that run against Inter won’t be simple. In addition to Dybala, Roma will be without Mourinho, who picked up a straight red against Monza after making ‘crying gestures’ toward the opposition bench. Unfortunately for the Special One, the bill of health at the Stadio Olimpico doesn’t make for good reading.
Chris Smalling, Tammy Abraham, Renato Sanches, Marash Kumbulla, and Lorenzo Pellegrini are unavailable for selection in the Roma camp.
