Roma Trying to Collect More Money to Bankroll Purchases

Roma raised nearly €30M before June 30^th by selling a few youngsters and misfits. While the income has been enough to avoid substantial punishment for Financial Fair Play violations, it hasn’t allowed them to spend much on the transfer market. They have completed four signings so far: two Bosman moves and two loans.

Per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Giallorossi are trying to finalize more departures to foot the acquisition of Gianluca Scamacca. Rick Karsdorp has been made available, but the offers have been lacking. Olympique Marseille tested the waters but didn’t lodge an offer. Zeki Celik could be the odd man out in that role instead. Fenerbahce proposed a season-long loan with €7M obligation to buy. The capital side would register a small profit since he joined for the same figure last summer.

The Turkish side could also help Roma indirectly since they are in talks to acquire Cengiz Under. He has a €20M valuation. The Giallorossi are entitled to 20 percent of the fee.

Director Tiago Pinto is also looking for suitors for Gonzalo Villar, who should eventually go back to La Liga, and Bryan Reynolds. The fullback could join Westerlo for €3.5M. With nearly €15M in their pocket, Roma will have better chances of convincing West Ham, which must also find a replacement before partying ways with Scamacca.
