Lorenzo Pellegrini has been rejuvenated following the arrival of Daniele De Rossi on the Roma bench. However, as is the case for most of the players they actually own and aren’t on loan or have short-term contracts, the risk of departure to address their financial problems is always present, Calciomercato relays.
The playmaker has recorded 6 goals and 3 assists in the last 13 matches with the club icon at the helm. Instead, he had an irregular role under the Special One, mostly due to injury.
Roma will need to record around €40M plusvalenze by June 30th, and selling a profitable piece like Pellegrini would take care of that in one fell swoop. The Giallorossi would rather keep him for years to come, but a €50M offer could make them waver. He has never lacked suitors in Italy or aboard.
Considering they signed Houssem Aoaur and have a plethora of talents waiting in the wings in the same position, they probably wouldn’t need a pricey replacement.
Our Take on Pellegrini and Roma
His turnaround has been so quick and glorious that one has to wonder whether he was at loggerheads with Mourinho. His exclusions from the XI while seemingly healthy were always odd. You never know nowadays with Saudi Arabia in the picture, but it’s hard to imagine somebody paying that much for him. Considering their restoration under De Rossi, half of their squad is likelier to leave before him.
