Roma Working With Inter on Blockbuster Trade

Roma keep shopping Edin Dzeko around and the latest suggestion leads to a swap of loans with Alexis Sanchez and, while Inter have not shut the door on the idea, there are some difficulties slowing down the possible deal, Sky Sport reports.

While the Nerazzurri previously rejected a trade with Christian Eriksen because of the role difference, they are more open to this opportunity because the duo plays in the same position, albeit with completely different skills. However, there is a gap between the wages that represents an issue, which the two sides will try to smooth over in the final days of the window.

While Dzeko is making €7.5M net and Sanchez €7M, the latter benefits from the fiscal benefits of the so-called Decreto Crescita, allowing the team to save half of the taxes on the salary, something that is not applicable to the Bosnian striker. The Milan-based club is not looking to increase the payroll in this conjecture and so the negotiation has hit a snag, even though they have long coveted the player as a back-up, but also a partner, for Romelu Lukaku.

The top executives of the two clubs are meeting directly to seek a solution, otherwise Roma will have to continue looking for ways to offload Dzeko, as the frictions with coach Paulo Fonseca have so far proven to be insurmountable. He was reportedly offered also to Chelsea and Manchester City, which quickly refused, while the rumoured swaps with PSG involving Mauro Icardi or Moise Kean have not gained any traction because the new coach Mauricio Pochettino likes his two forwards, transfer market expert Alfredo Pedullà reported.
