Romagnoli Negotiating Contract with Milan without Raiola

Alessio Romagnoli is gradually moving towards a new deal with Milan. The latest development is that the defender has excluded Mino Raiola from the recent talks. The negotiation with the Rossoneri is progressing slowly. However, the chances of him staying are increasing, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

Romagnoli currently makes €6M thanks to a gift from the previous Chinese ownership. They wanted to keep him at all costs since he was a centerpiece at the time. He has realized that he will have to accept a pay cut to stick around, but he is hopeful it will not be too large.

According to the Italian newspaper, the defender could accept a €4.5M salary. Milan are currently offering €1M per year less. The parties have yet to have a proper sit-down to negotiate. It should happen by the end of the month. It is uncertain whether Raiola will be invited.

The agent has become persona non grata in the Milan circles after engineering the departure of Gianluigi Donnarumma. The last meeting between the representative and the club dates back to early September. Romagnoli has handled the matter personally afterwards. The team addressed the report saying that they did not have any preclusion against anybody.

Despite being behind Fikayo Tomori and Simon Kjaer in the hierarchy, the Italian center-back has played regularly thanks to the busy schedule. He has made 11 appearances thus far, starting 8 times. He has not manifested any sign of malcontent publicly despite the demotion.
