Ronaldo Comments on Elimination, No Offers to Leave Juventus Yet

Cristiano Ronaldo took it to Instagram to address the elimination from Euro 2020. “We did not get the result we wanted and we were eliminated from the competition earlier than anticipated. We are proud of our journey, we gave everything to defend our title. This group proved it can still give a lot of joy to the Portuguese people.”

Ronaldo continued: “Our fans were tireless in supporting the team from the start. We run and fought hard to repay their trust. It was not possible to go as far as we wanted, but we are very sincerely and deeply grateful. We wish Belgium and the other national teams good luck for the rest of the Euro. We will be back stronger. Let’s go Portugal!.”

Ronaldo tied Ali Daei’s all-time record for a national team, but he did not surpass it. He is now the most prolific player in the history of the Euro with his 14 goals across the various editions. Despite the recent verbal barbs, he embraced Romelu Lukaku following the loss.

Now that the competition is over, the focus will shift on his future with Juventus. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, his agent Jorge Mendes has not brought any recent offer to the Italian club. Very few teams can afford Ronaldo and are currently dealing with other matters. Manchester United are focusing on the acquisition of Jadon Sancho, PSG on retaining Kylian Mbappé, which Real Madrid are targeting, as well as Erling Haaland.

Differently from the past, Ronaldo has not announced early that he is staying for sure, but the chances are increasing. He has a pretty good relationship with Massimiliano Allegri, even though the coach suggested moving on from him when he was on his way out two years ago.
