Former model Kathryn Mayorga is asking €65M in damages to Cristiano Ronaldo for an alleged sexual assault that happened in Las Vegas in 2009. Recent court documents revealed that the accuser demands €40M for past and future pain and suffering, €20M for punitive damages and legal feeds, the Mirror reports. It is equal to two years of his salary at Juventus.
The star striker has denied the incident on multiple occasions and called rape an “abominable” crime. In 2010, Mayorga accepted a €311k payment as part of an out-of-court non-disclosed settlement. However, three years ago, she filed a lawsuit as she claimed she was mentally incapacitated and under duress when he signed the agreement. She has listed over 60 potential witnesses, including three police officers that examined the complaint, Juventus president Andrea Agnelli and Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes.
The Clark County District Attorney’s Office looked into the matter in 2018 as the victim asked for the investigation to be reopened. Mayorga did not initially name the offender in 2009, thus the detectives were unable to search for and impound forensic evidence. The videos showing interactions between the duo were lost. The ace, who was never questioned directly and avoided traveling to the United States after the inquiry re-started, insisted that the woman was consentient at the time.
A year later, the prosecutor stated in a release that: “based upon a review of the information present at this time, the allegations of sexual assault against Cristiano Ronaldo can not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Therefore, no charges will be forthcoming.”
