Cristiano Ronaldo abided by the schedule and arrived at the Juventus training center today. He and other Euro participants Matthijs De Ligt, Adrien Rabiot, Dejan Kulusevski, and Aaron Ramsey, have taken the medicals and started the pre-season preparation. Vice-president Pavel Nedved reiterated yesterday that the star striker would stay in Turin.
The Portuguese ace will soon have a sit-down with Massimiliano Allegri to discuss few matters, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs. The coach wants to avoid a repeat of the previous seasons, especially off the pitch. In their lone campaign together, Juventus clinched the title early. However, they bowed out against Ajax in the Champions League Quarter-Finals. Ronaldo publicly displayed his dissatisfaction with the team’s effort and attitude at the final whistle.
The forward has had a different set of rules in the locker room in the past two years in Turin. He missed some practices under Maurizio Sarri, at times overlooked COVID regulations, and directly handled his playing time. Allegri is looking to find a better balance in the player-coach relationship.
The two will also discuss some tactical notions. In his first two campaigns with Juventus, Ronaldo mostly started on the left wing, as he has done for the majority of his career. Instead, he featured more centrally with Andrea Pirlo at the helm. The returning gaffer is plotting a pair of schemes depending on what his preferred position will be. While the Portuguese international has not announced it and remains on PSG’s radar, Juventus are firmly operating under the impression that he will not move.
