Sabatini Foresees Incoming ‘Tragedy’ in UCL Milan Derby

Inter and Milan face-off in arguably the biggest encounter between two Serie A teams in Europe since they met 18 years ago in the 2004/05 edition of the top-tier tournament. Former Roma and Nerazzurri sporting director Walter Sabatini thinks whichever team gets knocked out will pay an unbearable price, a ‘tragedy’ so to speak.

Speaking to Rai Sport (via MilanNews) in an interview, the veteran director revealed his prediction of the UEFA Champions League.

“It will be a tragedy, because whoever gets eliminated will pay an unbearable price. But that’s also the beauty of football. Inter or Milan will win the Champions League, I have no doubts. It will be the definitive redemption of Serie A.”

Sabatini, who earlier likened Napoli’s Luciano Spalletti to Caravaggio, believes the Italian top flight is the most enthralling among the European leagues.

“Serie A is admirable, I think it is the most competitive cahmpionship and with the best coaches.”

The Rossoneri and Nerazzurri will collide in the first leg of the EuroDerby in San Siro on May 10th before returning just six days later for the showdown clash.
