Sabatini’s Salernitana Takes Shape in Hectic Market Session

With the January window approaching its end, Salernitana emerged as one of the most active Serie A clubs on the transfer market as they attempt to save themselves from a possible relegation. Having obtained only 10 points in 22 games so far, the mission is almost impossible. Still, the Salerno-based outfit doesn’t seem to be willing to give up.

Walter Sabatini was appointed Director of Football at Salernitana on January 14 and from that moment has been working around the clock. Sabatini has much experience under his belt and looked for players who could reinforce the roster and improve the overall technical level of the Granata.

In the past few weeks, the club formalized the acquisition of multiple players already familiar with Serie A, including goalkeeper Luigi Sepe from Parma, right back Pasquale Mazzocchi from Venezia, center backs Federico Fazio from Roma and Radu Drăgușin from Sampdoria and, lastly, striker Simone Verdi from Torino.

Moreover, Sabatini has also been looking outside of Italy to enhance his midfield and attack. Norway international Emil Bohinen joined on loan from CSKA Moscow while the Éderson José dos Santos Lourenço da Silva landed in Salerno from Corinthians.

The Director of Football’s last move was confirmed yesterday as Salernitana also reached an agreement to sign striker Lys Émilien Mousset from Sheffield United.
