Salernitana and Verona Dueling to Sign Former Fiorentina Star

Verona and Salernitana have opened talks to bring in Franck Ribery. The Frenchman has been without a team since his contract with Fiorentina expired in June. He would prefer to stay in Italy, but his demands on personal terms are sizable. Karamguruk are also after him, Alfredo Pedullà reports.

The 38-year-old winger asks for a €1.5M salary plus add-ons to his suitors. Verona are biding time and would like the sum to come down a little. They have an ally in his former Bayern Munich teammate Luca Toni, who invited the winger to join the Scaligeri.

Instead, Salernitana could give such wages, but the player is not totally sold on the destination. Although, the Granata fans have started showering him with love on social media. The enthusiasm of the supporters is having an impact and could convince him to sign, Gianluca Di Marzio reports. Besides inquiries from more exotic leagues, they have placed the highest offer thus far.

Karamguruk’s first choice for the role is Yann Karamoh, and they are negotiating with Parma, Pedullà reports. If their attempt were unsuccessful, they would probably improve their proposal to Ribery. Verona acquired Gianluca Caprari to replace Mattia Zaccagni, but they would not mind adding another offensive weapon.

Instead, Salernitana do not really have a player with his traits on the roster and mostly purchased pure center-forwards during the summer. The attacker tallied 2 goals and 7 assists in 29 matches with Fiorentina last season. The Granata are also pursuing former Benevento midfielder Nicolas Viola as a possible free-agent signing.
