Salernitana Pursuing Inter Starlet and Napoli Legend

Salernitana have already signed multiple attackers this summer, but they plan to keep adding and are tracking Andrea Pinamonti and Dries Mertens. However, they are having trouble convincing the duo to join.

As per Alfredo Pedullà, the Granata have tabled the largest bid yet for the Inter prodigy. They have tendered €20M and are willing to accept a €35M buy-back clause. They have proposed a robust €2.5M salary to the youngster. Though, he has decided to wait for Atalanta or Sassuolo. The Campania outfit will give him until the end of the week before finalizing other moves.

On top of Pinamonti, Salernitana are going after Mertens, trying to exploit their proximity to Naples. They are ready to offer more than the Partenopei’s final proposal. The veteran has kept things closed to the vest while he weighs his options, La Repubblica informs.

The Granata officially brought back Federico Bonazzoli from Sampdoria Tuesday. They previously acquired Erik Botheim from Krasnodar and Diego Valencia from Universidad Catolica. Should they miss out on the former Empoli loanee, they would likely bring in either Krzysztof Piatek from Hertha Berlin or Neal Maupay from Brighton, Tuttomercatoweb relays.

Our Take on Salernitana Eyeing Pinamonti and Mertens

They would surely be too solid additions. It might be overkill to have both the ex-Napoli star and Franck Ribery on the roster. However, the Frenchman is on his last legs, while the Belgian is still a quality contributor. In general, they might be focusing a little too much on flashy deals, especially in their attack, rather than truly useful ones. Their defense and their midfield are still largely incomplete.
