Sampdoria Fullback Very Willing to Transfer to Roma

Bartosz Bereszynski is one of the alternatives for Roma to replace Rick Karsdorp. They briefly targeted him in the summer, and the fullback would gladly welcome the move to the Italian capital. His agent Blazej Telichowski talked to Report from Qatar (via SportMediaset).

“The Poland matches are followed by top clubs like the Giallorossi, and I think he’s on some shortlists. There’s no need for me to deny it at this point, as it’s public knowledge. I’d say just that it’s one of the options for us. He’s doing very well with the so-called ‘Polish Mourinho,’ so he’d be fine with the original one.”

According to Il Messaggero, Roma are keener on different targets rather than Bereszynski, but he’d be one of the easiest to sign. They prefer Hector Bellerin, Alvaro Odrizola, and Ivan Fresneda.

Karsdorp briefly returned to Italy while the Giallorossi were in Japan, but he won’t resume practicing. He headed back to the Netherlands after having dinner with his agent. CEO Tiago Pinto will meet with his representative to find a destination. Some Turkish sides have begun eyeing him. If they can’t monetize his departure, the capital side might not replace him after all.

Our Take on Roma and Bereszynski

The Polish veteran has some appeal for his experience and versatility, as he can play on either flank and in the back three, addressing another need, and because he’d be cheap since Sampdoria are cash-strapped. But he wouldn’t be better than Karsdorp. Instead, they should use this opportunity to upgrade. Otherwise, they are better off leaning on Nicola Zalewski, Zeki Celik, and perhaps even Ola Solbakken.
