Sampdoria Line Up Damsgaard Replacement as Transfer Talks Gain Pace

21-year-old Danish prodigy Mikkel Damsgaard is on the sights on several English Premier League clubs and these links have reportedly prompted the Blucerchiati to look for someone who will take the attacker’s place in the squad.

Damsgaard’s recent performances at Euro 2020 have boosted his transfer market value around the €20M mark, according to Transfermarkt, from €13M – which was his value back in May before the start of the continental championship. He played a key role for Denmark all the way to the Semi-Final, when they experienced bitter heartbreak at the hands of hosts England.

Liverpool, Leeds United, Aston Villa and Tottenham are all reportedly likely destinations for the talent. He will be let go by the club for the right fee – anything less than €35-40M will not garner the Genoa-based club’s attention.

With that being said, SportMediaset have revealed that the club are already on the lookout for the Danish midfielder’s replacement. Valencia’s Lee Kang-in, who functions in a role similar to Damsgaard, is being touted as a potential transfer, if Damsgaard ends up leaving.

The 20-year-old South Korean youngster’s contract at Mestalla expires in 2022, thus making him available for 1/4th of Damsgaard’s transfer fee.
