Sarri Eager to Add Established Players to Lazio Squad

Maurizio Sarri wants players ready to contribute right away as part of his plans to revamp the Lazio roster. They need to add depth following the Champions League qualification. Rather than bringing in youngsters, the gaffer prefers proven commodities, Alfredo Pedullà informs.

The Biancocelesti need a left-back. They will pursue a new agreement to onboard Luca Pellegrini permanently. He joined on loan with a €15M option to buy in January. They don’t want to spend that much, plus his wages are conspicuous relative to their standards. They’ll have to negotiate with Juventus and him. If they didn’t concur, they’d turn their attention toward Empoli’s Fabio Parisi and West Ham’s Emerson Palmieri, although the latter has a long-term contract.

Lazio and Sarri haven’t abandoned all hopes of retaining Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, but he must sign an extension, or he’ll be sold. Piotr Zielinski would be the primary target if the Serb left, but he’ll prioritize the talks with Napoli to prolong his short-term deal. Gedson Fernandes could be a viable alternative.

Manuel Lazzari, Marcos Antonio, and Luis Maximiano could be on their way out. They might ask to depart since they weren’t starters in the recently concluded campaign. Lucas Torreira has been longing to play for the gaffer for the past two years. His situation is fluid.

Domenico Berardi is top of the list to shore up the Lazio frontline, and he could take a further leap under the tutelage of Sarri. The Biancocelesti need to decide whether to invest more in a deputy striker or a winger first, though.
