Sergej Milinkovic-Savic proved instrumental once again in Lazio’s 4-0 win over Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi over the past weekend, taking his goal contribution tally to ten goals plus assists this season – the highest of any player so far in the league. Unsurprisingly, he has drawn attention from a host of clubs, including Juventus, Manchester United and Liverpool.
Coach Maurizio Sarri is unimpressed with the hype surrounding the Serbian, citing that ‘there is too much noise around him’ in his pre-match press conference (via Daily Mail), ahead of his side’s UEFA Europa League clash against Sturm Graz.
“I think there is too much noise around him. The day after our 4-0 win against Fiorentina, a paper put his name on their frontpage talking about transfers.
Filippo Ganna (Italian cyclist) has established a new incredible record, but in order to know something more about it, I had to search on specialized websites. This makes you understand how much the vision of the Italian Press is biased.”
The manager lashed out particularly at La Gazzetta dello Sport following a front page story regarding a potential switch to Juventus for the Serb midfield ace.
And despite being one of the best in business, Sarri believes his main midfield man has room for improvement.
“Milinkovic has room for improvement and you can see that from how many balls he loses.”
Lazio president Claudio Lotito has also commented on the rumors with the Bianconeri, saying that Milinkovic-Savic’s price increases every passing month.
