Sarri Asked for Ivan Provedel After Match Last Season

Lazio’s new goalkeeper Ivan Provedel has had a good start to the season. He initially came to Lazio in the summer from Spezia as back-up to Luis Maximiano. Instead, the 28-year-old is the number one in net.

It has been revealed that Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri wanted Provedel since the Biancocelesti met Spezia in April. The match ended 4-3 in Lazio’s favour, with Sarri impressed with what he saw. That match made the Italian coach asked for Provedel’s signature. In August the Rome-based side managed to snap up their target from Spezia despite Napoli having interest in the man from Pordenone.

So far Provedel has played in every minute of Lazio’s competitive matches this season, keeping clean sheets. His record is not great though, conceding 12 goals in the nine games. Seven of those goals came in Lazio’s Europa League games against Feyenoord and Midtjylland.

Provedel and Lazio will welcome his former employers Spezia this weekend before a trip to Austria in the Europa League against Sturm Graz.
