Sassuolo Ace Hellbent on Leaving, Favors Fiorentina Move

Domenico Berardi asked out and wanted to join Fiorentina last summer. However, the deal did not materialize because Sassuolo set a high price tag, and the Viola did not sell Dusan Vlahovic. But it could be just a matter of time because the forward is dead set on moving, Alfredo Pedullà reports.

Despite his wishes, Berardi guaranteed the Neroverdi he would maintain the right attitude. His performances have not dipped. He has scored five times and provided two assists in his first ten appearances. Sassuolo stripped him of the captain’s armband given the situation.

According to the transfer market expert, Fiorentina are still the top destination in the player’s mind. He believes the circumstances simply delayed the transfer. The Emilian side does not want to sell their best pieces in January, but the Viola will make another attempt. Sassuolo told him they would not obstacle his departure, as long as somebody matches their €30M evaluation. It is more likely to happen next summer than in the upcoming window.

CEO Giovanni Carnevali addressed the rumors to Tuttomercatoweb: “Berardi comes from our youth academy, and we have an emotional connection with him. There was a chance to sell him, but he is fundamental to us. Differently from previous years, he demanded to depart. However, the conditions have to satisfy everybody, and that was not the case for us in that instance. We always have to combine the technical element with the economic one. It would be easy to grow by constantly holding onto your best players, but we have to consider everything.”
